I’m not going to explain what went on with her because i think you should watch the documentary. It’s not long and it won’t kill you to open your eyes to how the justice system treats women who try to protect themselves.
I have not suffered a fraction of what Cyntoia went through and I have felt justified in my violent reactions to the way people have treated me. People need to open their fucking eyes and stop seeing shit as black and white. Good and bad. Murderer or Innocent. Every case is gonna be different and should be treated on a case by case basis.
The war on women is kept alive by the law, which does not care about your dignity, your unplanned reactions or your instinct. It says you should always behave impeccably, run to the nearest village bobby and report whatever dastardly ex army sharpshooter has you trapped in his house ready to rape you.
It’s the same way that when a dirty weasle of a man was screaming in my face - centimetres from my face - i was supposed to calmly keep on going with my business and perhaps later report it.
When society doesn’t want to protect women from harassment, violence, intimidation and sexual assualt/rape, then how can you tell her she can’t fight back?
This world is a fucked up place. And if you are the type of person who thinks that murder is murder and there is no excuse; that a 16 year old girl should have her life taken away from her and ruined, live with a damaged psyche forevermore because she tried to defend herself from a situation she’d been in MORE THAN 30 ODD TIMES BEFORE - then YOU can go fucking die.
